WEEKLY HEALTH TIP #7 – DRINK PLENTY

This is a classic tip but one which is worth repeating. Staying properly hydrated has 3 main benefits:

  1. You'll be giving your body what it needs to work properly
  2. Dehydration can disguise itself as hunger which means it prevents unnecessary eating
  3. Drinking water is very good for you and will prevent other, high calorie drinks being consumed

How to do it: When I worked in an office my way of keeping hydrated was to take a walk to the water fountain every time I got distracted or needed a minute rest. I would only use a 200ml cup and when I got to the fountain I would down a full one, then take another one back to my desk with me to drink over the next 30 mins or so.

You should be consuming around 3 litres of water per day to stay properly hydrated and help the body work efficiently.

Why do it: As above, the health benefits are really too good not to do it. It will help to flush out any toxins that are produced, your skin will look and feel better, your concentration and memory will be improved and you'll just generally look and feel better. Your body will thank you for it.

Top Tip: Write down on a piece of paper how much you drink each day and add that up at the end of the day to see how you did.
